Yeah, as one of the greatest, as a top athlete, ball player, and competitor, Faulk is really in the top 10 as most have said. A class act, hard to beat that total package.

How is he only # 70? Marshall Faulk would be in my Top 20 NFL players ever.

Glad I got to watch this guy play.
Apr 16, 2012 martinishot Says:
Plays of him running wideout pass patterns starting from the backfield are missing here and they are what truly separated him from any other back in history. Before Marshall just catching dumpoffs would have a RB be called a good reciever. Faulk changed that expectation and if a new generation of Faulks follow him he should be top 10.

Surprised he isn't higher than 70

Oj Simpson was stronger than Faulk, more entertaining to watch, also like Eric dickerson and Campbell

Marshawn lynch also made ray Lewis miss. Not saying lynch is better than Faulk, not even close? But just saying he isn't the only one. Gio hawks!!

I'm just happy that this is Youtube proof two people can have an intelligent disagreement without cursing or adding derogatory racial commentary. Finally, it has been done!

I'm sorry, I mean any recievers on the list.
Mar 18, 2012 rorank Says:
I'm old enough to have seen Earl Campbell play. The fact of the matter is that Marshall Faulk wasn't as good at running as any other Running Back on this list. He wasn't as good at catching as anyone on this list. He is somewhere in the middle, and that's what makes him so far down on this list.

I think you need to check your definition of great. he was one of the GREATEST running, GREATEST receiving, GREATEST pass blocking running backs to ever dawn a helmet. If you don't think he was a great runner I can't bother with you any longer because there is no point speaking to you about this.
Are you old enough to say that you saw him play or are you just looking at highlights?
Mar 18, 2012 rorank Says:
Yeah, but the thing is, he was never that great at running. He was a good, solid runner, but never great. Same with recieving. He was good at running and recieving, but he was never great at either one. He was significantly above average at both, but not great.
Mar 18, 2012 TECKSTYLZ312 Says:
The difference between Faulk and all the others you named were that he was more than just a rushing threat. He ran the routes of a WR just as many times as he ran between the tackles. This might not seem like much, but there has never been another back to do it better before or since. Just take a look at his numbers from 1998 - 2001... Never had less than 1300 yrs and 80 rec! No one on that list did it better, but LT was damn close!
Mar 18, 2012 TECKSTYLZ312 Says:
And if this was a a list of who led the league in rushing you might have a leg to stand on, but it's not. Marshall changed how RB's were used. There has never been a running back who put up the total numbers he has both rushing and receiving. He was one of the best pure runners and had better hands than most WR's. This list is for the best players to ever play the game, not best runners between the tackles - LT excluded.
Mar 18, 2012 rorank Says:
Umm, Earl Campbell led the league in rushing 3 times. O.J. Simpson led the league in rushing 4 times. Eric Dickerson led the league 4 times. L.T. led the league in rushing twice. Marshall Faulk.......0 times.
