Yep. Singletary was a great leader, but that cog had a lot bigger gears in it than him and they were all on the line. NOT a HOF in my opinion and IMO not a guy on this list.

Totaly agree with you 357 Hampton was a total beast, also another of those Bears who is totaly underated was #76 Steve Mcmichael 95 sacks tyed for most safties in NFL history and they both played on bad knees every week.

How can MS be #57 and Dan Hampton not even make the list? Teams that played the Bears doubled Hampton, not Singletary. When Hampton retired, Singletary called him up one day and told him he never realized what a difference he made. They doubled Hampton even though Singletary, Dent and Refrigerator Perry were on that line. Each of those other guys would be doubled on most DL's, but it was Hampton that was doubled in that group. This tells me Hampton was thought to be the best among them.

Why not? I'm not a Bears fan by any stretch, but I loved MS throughout his career. I still can't feature why he couldn't succeed in SF. To me, it sez more bout the Niners players and the organization than it does about MS. Great player and a good man. I hope he gets another coaching opportunity.

When I think of Singletary I do not think talent! I think intelligence, commitment, and desire! He epitimizes the Chicago Bear Football player because of how he played when he was in the league! I love the line in 0:52 Hey baby, we gonna be here all day! I love that kinda party! I love that kind of party! By the time Walter Payton was past his prime he was already beginning to become the face of the franchise and remained that way until he retired! He is the consumate Middle Linebacker!

At one time, I thought he received too much attention... sort of a media darling, but I have changed my mind over the years. He kept those nut cases focused... and I mean nut cases in a positive way. The stop he put on Dickerson was epic. Nobody stopped him like that. I still can't figure that one out and he stopped him cold.
